What Kind of Career Can You Expect?
With the skills this program provides, you can pursue a career within many types of organizations- business, industry, government, and more.

Salaries begin at $10-15 per hour locally, and $19-30 per hour nationwide. Students with 18 months of experience and certification from Microsoft or Novell can earn more than $30 per hour.

What is the Outlook for Job Opportunities and Pay?
Computer Network Support Technicians are critical to ensuring PC networks operate consistently, 24 hours per day. As a result, job opportunities are excellent-especially if you are willing to relocate. There are between 150,000 and 300,000 network support positions available throughout the United States.

What Skills, Traits, or Prep Classes Would be Helpful?
- Keyboarding ability
- Working knowledge of hardware and software applications
- Mechanical aptitude
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, the approximate weight of a computer system unit or monitor
- Strong math and algebra skills
- People and communication skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Troubleshooting skills

This program requires a strong background in DOS and Windows 95. Students with A+ certification will receive advanced placement in the program.

What Will You Learn to Do?
– Install and configure hardware and software
– Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain local and wide-area computer network systems   (NT, Netware)
– Use data communication protocols
– Solve application problems
– Troubleshoot hardware problems (NICS, disk drives, etc.)
– Set up, print from, program, and back-up computers
– Work within a TCP/IP environment
– Communicate well with customers
– Master basic mathematics
– Write a resume, search for a job, and interview effectively

You will also receive training through an on-site internship
and may have the opportunity to work part-time in a related
field while in the program. This training will prepare you for
certification with Microsoft and Novell.
