Currently there are more jobs available than technicians to fill them. This is a great career choice. Technicians starting out earn $12-20 per hour, plus benefits.

* Students with prior experience or high school training in automotive or diesel technology will receive advanced placement in the program.
What Will You Learn to Do?
– Service, maintain, and repair all parts of the diesel
equipment used in the trucking industry.
– Diagnose and repair internal combustion engines,
power train components, transmissions, differentials,
drive lines, basic hydraulics, overall engine performance,
and diesel systems—including fuel, lubrication, hydraulic,
air, engine brake, cooling, suspension, steering,
and electrical.
– Identify and replace defective or worn parts according to
manufacturer specifications
– Use service/parts manuals
– Properly care for and use tools
– Practice shop safety and housekeeping skills
– Maintain occupational relationships
– Effectively communicate with customers and peers.
A typical day is six hours of classroom and lab work.
Students may work part-time in a related field while
in the program.
