Important Information

Center Policies

• You must present 2
   ID's; one photo / one
   signature ID.

• No Cell Phones or   other electronic
  devices are allowed
   in the testing room

• Personal checks are   not accepted.
  No exceptions.

This computerized assessment tool measures your skill levels in math, reading and writing. The results are used by Student Service Advisors to help determine program placement.

Fees: There is a $15.00 fee the first time you take the COMPASS. If you need to retake the COMPASS there will be a $5.00 charge for each portion. Diagnostics for each portion of the COMPASS are also available ($5/diagnostic)

Validity: COMPASS scores are valid one year from the last assessment date or the last date you attended Applied Technology classes.

Scores: Scores are printed as soon as you complete the test and you will receive a copy of your scores.

Length of Test: Compass testing is not timed. The average amount of time needed for each exam is about 30–45 minutes.

Retake Policy: You can retake any portion or all of the COMPASS assessment up to 3 times per semester. You must wait 2 weeks from original test date to retest and/or 2 weeks from last retest date to retest again. If you do not want to wait 2 weeks to retake the assessment you may opt to take a diagnostic assessment in the area where scores were deficient and go to Basic Applied Academics for tutoring and review. The cost for the diagnostics is $5 per section.

Preparation: This test is designed to place you in the most appropriate course. We do not encourage preparation.
