About Tenure

As of September, 1993, new College of Applied Technology faculty are not eligible for tenure. Because there is a seven-year time limit for achieving tenure, it is now technically impossible for any College of Applied Technology faculty to be applying for tenure. However, the Promotion & Tenure Committee may still be involved in tenure review cases. For more information on tenure please see BSU Policy 5340-B.

The requirements are different for faculty hired before 10/3/93.

Promotion Notebook

  • Please include a one-page summary (link goes to a Word template you can use).

  • All requirements should have supporting documentation. Unofficial transcripts and photocopies are acceptable.

  • Please document your employment history at BSU by including photocopies of your annual contracts. Please cover up the salary information--we only need to verify that you have met the time in rank requirements.

  • Please include a table of contents and a vita. The committee also greatly appreciates an overview showing how you meet the requirements (for example, a table showing that workshop hours add up to the required total).

  • The committee requests that all supporting documentation be presented in a three-ring binder, with tabbed separators to indicate the four sections of teaching, professional activity, professional preparation, and service, or arranged in the order shown on the appropriate checklist.

  • Please ask your Center Manager for help organizing your notebook.
