What is TechPrep? :
Tech Prep is a national and state effort which emphasizes collaboration between high schools and Idaho technical colleges while preparing students for entry into the workforce.

High school technical programs prepare many students with basic skills in a particular vocation. Postsecondary programs teach basic skills and higher level skills designed to improve student opportunities for better jobs, higher wages and promotions.

In a Tech Prep program, high school and college instructors work together to design a seamless education system in which Tech Prep students can move from high school to college without having to repeat college courses.

College credits they earn through their high school classes may be applied toward the following credentials at BSU; Selland College of Applied Technology:
- Bachelor of applied science
-
Associate of applied science
- Advanced technical certificate -Technical certificate
For more in-depth information about Tech Prep in the State of Idaho, go to the Idaho Division of Professional-Technical Education website.

How do Students Earn College Credit?:
Students must enroll in an approved Tech Prep program through their Tech Prep instructor or school counselor. The enrollment forms identify the courses available for credit at the student's school.

In order for a student to receive college credit for a high school course, a grade of "B" or higher in the applicable Tech Prep courses must be earned. The student must also meet admission requirements at the college level, complete one semester in good standing, and maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA.
